In General, the hard disk is damaged by major categories can be divided into the soft hard damage and damage.
Hard damage including head component damage, control circuit damage, comprehensive damage and sector physical damage (most people call it the physical bad road).
Head Assembly is damaged: mainly refers to the hard disk head component part is damaged, resulting in some or all of the head does not read and write. Head Assembly is damaged and the possibilities are many, including head is dirty, head wear, deformation, magnetic head cantilever coil damage, shift, etc.
Control circuit damage: refers to the hard drive of the electronic circuit board in a part of the circuit breaker or short circuit or some electrical components or IC chip damage and so on, resulting in a hard drive on powerup disc doesn't play go, or go back head does not properly seek.
Comprehensive damage: mainly refers to the changes because of some tiny hard drive problems arising. There is a hard drive in use because of fever or other relationships lead to some chip aging; some are hard drives after shell shocked or disc surface or motor spindle produces tiny changes or displacement; some are the hard disk itself in the design aspect in the heat, friction or structural defects. Various reasons cause instability in your hard disk, often losing data or logic errors, noise at work, read/write slow, sometimes works but sometimes doesn't work.
Sector physical damage: because the collision, the head of friction or other causes disk surface of physical damage such as scratches, off magnetic, etc.
Soft damage including tracks error of servo information, system information in error and sector logic errors (generally referred to as logical bad road).
Track error of servo information: refers to as a physical damage to the track of servo information or fail, causing the physical track cannot be accessed.
System error information area: refers to the hard drive of the system information area (hard drive internal a system reserved area is divided into several modules, save a lot of hard disk parameters, set the factory information and internal controls) during the power on self test is read out some information or verification of the module is not working properly, resulting in a hard drive will not enter the ready state.
Sector logic error: because the validation error (ECC error and CRC errors), sector flag error (IDNF errors), address information error (AMNF errors), a bad block flag error (BBM), reasons for failure of the sector.
